Valentine Hoop Art

Happy Snow Day!
I've been making a lot of embroidery hoop art as of late
and today's snow day was the perfect day for it.

I looked through my huge collection of stamps for those with thin lines
for stitching over.  I found this sweet elephant stamp from an old
Stampin' Up Valentine collection from several years ago.  I've always loved it!

I stamped the image onto a warm muslin fabric with Staz-On ink.
Next, I used various colors of DMC embroidery floss and started stitchin'!

I cut a felt heart from a roll of felt ribbon that I purchased in the Target Dollar Spot :)
I wanted more color for the background, so I used some chalks for the sky and grass and
also a dab of pink for his cheeks!

Once the front was finished, I glued the edges down around the back of the 4" hoop.
Next, I die-cut a 4" circle from white poster board and glued it to the back.  Perfect
for hiding the stitch work and also giving some protection to the piece.

In finishing, I attached red pom pom trim from May Arts Ribbon and a red/white
piece of twine for the hanger.  I just -HEART- how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!
